Summary

Plan Aurora, hatched in a remote dacha in the forest outside Moscow and initiated with relentless brilliance and skill, is a plan within a plan that, in its spine-chilling ingenuity, breaches the ultra-secret Fourth Protocol and turns the fears that shaped it into a living nightmare. A crack Soviet agent, placed under cover in a quiet English country town, begins to assemble a jigsaw of devastation. MI5 investigator John Preston, working against the most urgent of deadlines, leads an operation to prevent the act of murderous destruction aimed at tumbling Britain into revolution...

The Fourth Protocol - Very enjoyable

The Fourth Protocol - Very enjoyable
This is my first Frederick Forsyth novel and apart from a very length explanation by philby to Russian leader regarding the Labour Party in uk this was an edge of the seat spy yarn.
Excellent narration by David Rintoul

Amazing detail in a gripping story

This is a gripping story of spies but what really distinguishes the book is the amount of detail. For instance, there is a fascinating treaty early on regarding the political state of the UK in the late 70s and early 80s. There are also fascinating insights of how the Soviet spies go about their business, many details of which appear in the Americans tv series.

Thoroughly recommended.

Very good plot - with twists. Well researched as expected. Well narrated - different accents used as appropriate .

Slow Burn

This is a good story that's well told. For a while I felt that it slowed down a touch but really this was just the pullback for the finale.

Exciting & plausible

A thoroughly enjoyable, difficult to stop, listen.
It seems so realistic and presumably details such as those given of the SAS are true. It illustrates the profound and deep difficulties of making decisions that go above and beyond right and wrong.

Excellent

I first read this book years ago but after watching the movie based on it I thought I would go back to the book. It was no mistake, he truly enjoyed it. It was a non stop listen.

Gripping story. Volume too uneven.

If you listen on headphones while running you must constantly adjust the volume. Well read but still extremely irritating.
