Summary

Searching for a new home....

The Galahad, a faster-than-light spacecraft, carries 50 scientists and engineers on a mission to prepare Kepler 452b, Earth's nearest habitable neighbor at 1400 light years away. With Earth no longer habitable and the Mars colony slowly failing, they are humanity's best hope.

After 10 years in a failed cryogenic bed - body asleep, mind awake - William Chanokh's torture comes to an end as the fog clears, the hatch opens, and his friend and fellow hacker, Tom, greets him...by stabbing a screwdriver into his heart. This is the first time William dies.

It is not the last.

When he wakes from death, William discovers that all but one crew member - Capria Dixon - is either dead at Tom's hands, or has escaped to the surface of Kepler 452b. This dire situation is made worse when Tom attacks again - and is killed. Driven mad by a rare reaction to extended cryo-sleep, Tom hacked the Galahad's navigation system and locked the ship on a faster-than-light journey through the universe, destination: nowhere. Ever.

Mysteriously immortal, William is taken on a journey with no end, where he encounters solitary desperation, strange and violent lifeforms, a forbidden love, and the nature of reality itself.

...he discovers the infinite.

Jeremy Robinson, the master of fast-paced and highly original stories seamlessly blending elements of horror, science fiction, and thrillers, tackles his most ambitious subject matter to date: reality itself. An amalgam of the works of J.J. Abrams and Ridley Scott, Infinite is a bold science fiction novel exploring the vastness of space and a man's desire to exist, find love, and alter the course of his life.

Insanely fast-paced!! Love it!!!! :)

It's not going to win any literary awards and... yes... there's holes in the story, but WOW! If you can imagine riding an insanely mad roller-coaster for 10 hours then you've got to listen to this. For sheer mind-bending, rip-roaring si-fi entertainment and narration from the amazing R.C.Bray this is must!

Fantastic

An incredible story spanning time and space! Although slightly predictable in some places it doesn’t take away from the fresh plot and fantastic voice acting. I didn’t want it to end!

Excellent story

Loved this story and didn't see the ending coming. Well read and escapism at its best.

Really enjoyed it

I'm a sucker for science fiction with elements of isolation time shenanigans, this was a great read

7/8 of it were amazing

made me laugh, actually choked me up at one point. but the twist that I was really hoping from chapter 10 wouldn't happen happened and I felt a bit cheated

Solid sci-fi

I'd been debating grabbing this book for a little while as some of the other reviews on here aren't exactly complementary about the story. I ended up purchasing on the back of R.C Bray as I knew at least the narration was going to be absolutely top notch.

The narration is, as expected, fantastic. R.C does a great job of the characters, building life and feeling into their voices while keeping them distinct and instantly recognisable. He's probably one of the best (if not the best?) performers out there at the moment and if you have't heard of him you really need to jump into one of the books he's read. You won't regret it!

What I perhaps wasn't expecting was a solid story, which despite its twists and turns actually wraps everything up in a neat, satisfying manor. Usually when an author tries to pack in too many twists, things tend to unravel at the end and questions end up invariably unanswered (or left to the audiences imagination - AKA the author is too lazy to come up with it themselves). Not so here. Not only do questions get answered but the ending actually makes sense in the context of the story.

I also didn't find the story overly sloppy or sentimental and enjoyed the fact that the ending tips towards the happier side of the scales. I find quite a few authors at the moment that try to pack a little shock value into the end of the book. I can only imagine this trend is an effort to be 'thought provoking'. Unfortunately what ends up happening is they often force characters to do things that make no sense looking back at their previous actions, or simply have events happen that feel shoehorned in, all to pull out that little bit of darkness at the end. There is a key decision right at the end of the book and thankfully the main character makes the choice which makes sense in their arc, instead of leaving the ending more open and much darker.

Perhaps the only major downside of the book is the main twist itself and how glaringly obvious it is for quite a portion of the book. If you want a book where you feel baffled until the end, this is probably going to leave you lacking there.

In the end I went in expecting not a lot, and found I enjoyed the book far more than I hoped I would. If you are looking for a decent sci-fi experience that isn't marines blasting aliens or endless galactic wars then this is a really decent option for you.

Enjoyable listen!

Good story, found myself going back for more. Always a huge fan of RC Bray, he was faultless as usual.

One issue I kept running into was mixing up Cap and Gal. The names were just too similar and there were times where I forgot who was who.

Anyway, really enjoyed. When I have a free credit I'll definitely be checking out book 2
