Can't be derivative so the rest must be

A good listen and advocates being principal centred, honest and supportive with people. Stephen Covey went on to develop this further with his 7 habits. I can't advocate being dishonest and telling people want they want to hear even if it is wrong but we can all learn from this. We also have to recognise that this won't work all the time.

    Absolutely amazing

What did you like most about How to Win Friends & Influence People?

I am one of those people firmly against anything 'self-help' but even I cannot deny just how great this book was. Some of the advice is just common sense but it is put in such a simple and eloquent way that you can't help but love it.

    Any additional comments?

Really great read. Will recommend to everyone

To be read over and over again

I first read this book some 20 years ago when I was a teenager. I borrowed it from my maternal uncle. It was translated in Urdu, national language of Pakistan. This book changed my life back then and now I have read it again and it is sure going to do the same again. The author's way of teaching is so captivating, all lessons are taught using real examples. This helps also in remembering them later on. Keep this book with you and revisit every few years. I have applied few principles while reading and they immediately paid off. I was skeptical before purchasing that will the lessons be still applicable in modern world or not? I guarantee you they are as human behavior don't change. So just grab the lesson and translate how you will implement them in current modern age.

    a great book

Well I listen to the books in the car to amd from work. I picked up a few important things from the book. I put them into practice, like just making sure you appreciate people, and making sure you understand they are busy and saying thing like if it's not to much trouble, and making them aware you you appreciate there skills and knowledge and value them. If you make a mistake, own that mistake and just say sorry and accept it.
I did this on day 1 of coming from from Christmas break. you would not believe the responses I was getting and how quick I was getting replies which would normal take weeks to get a reply, if I got one at all, I had a professional replying 2 days later apologising to me for taking so long to reply!

The book may be old but the message can never be

This book is a reminder of basic ethics in dealing with people which we know but usually not follow and care about. Dale Carnegie, in this book, just highlights the importance of these ethics with real life stories which serves as an example of how we can be so much better in our social dealings. I really feel we are missing the basic messages that this book delivers. Must read for everyone
