Inspiring and Practical
It's taken me a long time to realise I could be listening to *Christian* books in the car, rather than secular stuff. The Purpose-Driven Church was my first experiment, and it was a great success. The book has inspired me and motivated me, and provided a wealth of ideas to try in our church.
I think the great value is that Dr Warren de-emphasises 'programmes' and 'techniques' in favour of methods of understanding the needs of a community, and then constructing appropriate, purpose-driven ministries to meet those needs and win people for Christ. While some of the suggestions and examples are perhaps a little American, the principles are clear and universal, as they are rooted in Scripture.
The reading was also excellent; clear and easy to listen to, and worked well with the text. I strongly recommend this to anyone involved in a new church or a church which is changing (or needs to change!).

Brilliant book and still relevant today
If you’re a pastor, elder or in any position in church that involves helping your church grow then this book is a must. If you’re it then get it anyway as it is still one of the best marketing books ever written, whatever business you’re in.
