'Literary crime novel is justified here' SUNDAY TIMES
'Mysteries galore ... properly chilling' OBSERVER
One of them has killed before.
One of them will kill again.
In the sweltering summer of 1997, straight-laced, straight-A student Karen met Biba - a bohemian and impossibly glamorous aspiring actress. A few months later, two people were dead and another had been sent to prison.
Having stood by Rex as he served his sentence, Karen is now married to him with a daughter, Alice, who runs a vintage clothing company in London. They're a normal family, as long as they don't talk about the past, never mention the name Biba, and ignore Alice's flashes of dark, dangerous fury.
Karen has kept what really happened that summer of '97 hidden deep inside her. Alice is keeping secrets of her own. But when anonymous notes begin to arrive at Alice's shop, it seems the past is about to catch up with them all....
'Breathtaking, original and beautifully written, I absolutely loved it' C.L. TAYLOR
'Dripping in atmosphere' HEAT
'A rich, gothic thriller that jumps from different perspectives and times, this is something of a work of art' BEST
'A fantastic read' WOMAN & HOME
'Full of duplicity, doppelgängers and dead girls' dresses, The House of Mirrors delivers a white-knuckle ride as a murky past creeps up on the present. I don't think I took a breath until I found myself screaming my way through the crescendo' ALICE SLATER
'I love an Erin Kelly book! The worlds she creates are so rich and alive' JANE FALLON
'When it comes to deeply involving, twisty thrillers, Erin Kelly is in a league of her own. The House of mirrors is a magnificent mystery that begs to be read in a single sitting but deserves to be pored over slowly, every word savoured. Possibly the finest thriller you'll read all year' CHARLOTTE PHILBY
'Erin Kelly is quite simply one of the best crime writers around. The House of Mirrors is a totally absorbing story of family secrets, omissions and outright lies, with unforgettable characters and settings. It is impeccably plotted down to the very last line. I loved it' JANE CASEY
'An electrifying thriller' WOMAN'S OWN

Made me late for work!
I have been taking the long way to work all week to cram another few lines of this amazing novel. I’ve been on the edge of my seat as it twists and turns with energy and skill around a great plot. What a great ‘non sequal’ to The Poison Tree - loved it!

Enthralling
I loved it!
I read The Poison Tree years ago and listened to the audiobook in preparation for this.
I loved that this audiobook included multiple narrators for different perspectives of the events.
Poor Karen’s a mess, it was great to finally get in Biba’s head, but Alice is my favourite - she’s a wonderful character and made me laugh out loud a few times.
I was gripped all the way through, I loved re-visiting these characters and all the fashion!

Twisty tale
I really liked the voices, particularly that of Alice. I loved her "Dead Girls Dresses" theme. The story was consistently surprising & epilogue brilliant

Good read
Narrator is great. Story is very twisty and the characters are individual and well written.

Great narration, absolutely terrible book
This was the book of the month for a book club I am a member of. Given last month’s offering was the Bee Sting, I was excited for this book. I absolutely did not connect with this book at all. The constant outfit descriptions feel like they are from a novel for teenagers. The Alice character is lovely and while all the narrators are excellent, Alice is a stand out, reminiscent of Martine McCutcheon. The story is thin and lacking any real mystery. There are several moments in the book that are completely out of tune and immersion shattering, particularly those surrounding the Balcony and Biba’s meeting with Karen that had I been reading a physical copy of have thrown it out the window. Without revealing plot details there are huge life altering moments in this book which the characters react to like they’ve misplaced their car keys. As I said the narrators are all wonderful but I could not in good conscience recommend this book to anyone.
