Summary
Brought to you by Penguin.
The extraordinary memoir of the sporting icon, devoted friend and fundraising hero who has inspired the nation in his fight against MND.
The Extra Mile is no ordinary sports memoir. But Kevin Sinfield is no ordinary sportsman. A one-club legend of Leeds Rhinos, who has now crossed codes as a defence coach for Leicester Tigers, Kevin Sinfield is a rugby icon. But in recent years has shown heroism of a very different kind through his selfless and extraordinary fundraising for Motor neurone disease (MND), the terminal illness that has affected his best mate and former teammate Rob Burrow.
Sinfield's epic challenges have included running 7 marathons in 7 days, and running over 101 miles in 24 hours. In the process, Sinfield has captured the hearts of the nation and raised nearly £5 million for MND. He was awarded an OBE in the Queen's Birthday honours for his efforts.
Told with Sinfield's characteristic warmth, dry wit and inspirational leadership, The Extra mile is the story of an astonishing life, of an enduring friendship, of perseverance against the most difficult of challenges, and of a remarkable, humble human being who has defied the odds. The book equips readers with the tools and the mindset to embrace togetherness and to overcome their own challenges. It leaves the reader with the urgent question: Who would you go the extra mile for to help in life?

This is the most honest and inspiring book next to Rob Burrow
Kevin Sinfield biography is such an honest and inspiring book. I followed all of his charity challenges and to hear him speak openly about feelings towards others especially Rob Burrow, Doddie Weir and his family and friends is heart warming.
A man of steel and no nonsense attitude make this a great book.
The MND Association are very lucky to have him and he has inspired me to take on my own ultra 7in7.

Best book I have listened too
An incredibly moving and humbling story. Narrated by Kevin himself makes it feel more personal. I also found the book very motivating and made me realise that I should appreciate what I have in life more. Would recommend you read it whether you are or are not a Rugby League fan.

Sir Kev, simply put, an absolute inspiration and proper mate
The love and dedication Kev has put into his career, his family, his mates and particularly Rob, and to the the MND foundation is nothing but inspirational.
In Leeds, Kev, or Sir Kev as we lovingly call him has been a legend and loved for many years and I knew his story. Listening to it, read by Kev himself has only further affirmed the awe I have for his dedication.

Fantastic! So motivating
I loved everything about this book, I was introduced to Kevin through his fundraising work, I followed his story whilst he fundraisers for MND, and I grew to love his relationship with Rob. i’m more of a football fan and haven’t watched much rugby but listening to this audiobook none of that matters, such an inspiring story that has motivated me more and more with my running, and fundraising. I did my first ever marathon, after being inspired by Rob and Kevin, (The Rob Burrows Leeds Marathon 2023) and now I feel inspired to do more. Thank you so much for your wonderful story and for being the perfect role Models you are!
