Summary
At 40, Lan Davis is looking for his damned picket fence and two point five kids. What he doesn't expect is instead of a wife in the picture, his mind keeps conjuring up images of two men. One, his partner in the force, who is as straight as they came, the other an ex, who he'd hurt but never forgot.
After an incident leaves Lan injured, the two men rally around him...only maybe they shouldn't have. It seems a medicated Lan is a truthful one.
Parker Wilding is pissed at the world. His anger builds when his partner refuses medical care after an attack. Instead, Lan entrusts his neighbor to take care of him - a guy Parker doesn't trust. While he's aware they share a history, when the past is revealed, the truth shocks the hell out of him.
Being emotionally crushed ten years ago, Easton Ravel hoped he would never have to see the man who broke him again. Hope is a fickle bitch. And now he's not sure how to handle being face-to-face with the man he once loved. Add in the mix the annoying, testy Parker, and Easton finds his limits are pushed.
Just not in the way he thought they would be.
What happens next sure does come out of the blue.

Great
One of the best audiobooks I've ever listened to. The characters are lovely complex with great depth and the voice actors are really great as well.

Absolutely brilliant 👏👏👏
This story was complete perfection from start to finish. I adored all the characters. The drama was tense, it was funny and the angst and longing and journey towards the HEA was truly beautiful, the narration was expertly done and really made the story flow beautifully.

Enthralling
This was a good drama from start to finish with angst and funny in periods. Antony Ferguson voice I found was a bit robotic at times Joel Leslie is always good that's why I listened to this book because he was one of the narrorors. Lila Rose is a new author to me but i did feel the book was a bit rushed at the end, but still a very good story.

3.5 Stars
Starts 10 years in the past, chapter 3 jumps into the present.
Hawks MC series adjacent but is stand alone. The side characters from what I gather are the focus of the main MC book series.
I’m not an MC novel reader and I found it a little tough and to be frank a little OTT with the “family” and “brother” comments. It all felt a little overly dramatic. Like the Fast and the Furious if you take away all the explosions and unlimited up shifting 🤣
The book really felt like it was distinctively segmented. Pre relationships, post first pairing (very insta love) and then once Parker joins the thrupple.
The book was pretty spicy though out, right from the jump, in the flashback there is some heavy steam. But the first time Parker joins in “just watching” 🥵. Well yeah...that's going to live in my brain for a little while...

Disappointing
Ferguson reads two thirds of the book, and he is mediocre. The sample is Leslie reading. The story was fine but Ferguson was distracting from enjoying it.

Should have stuck with just Joel Leslie to narrate....
Story ok...
Would have been improved if you had just stuck with Joel to narrate..
He’s a master of voices and accents , he could ah e managed this far better alone and it would have made more sense....
Was a bit confusing .... was like 2 different stories ?
And the non Joel story, not as good as the first part with him....

Got bored and couldn't finish
I couldn't finish this book. First thing first, I don't listen to MC books, they are not my scene. When I realised this book has MC elements I thought about stopping a few times. I had only started listening to this book because I like both the narrators. However, after listening to over 70% of the book I couldn't understand why we have 2 narrators. I think it would have worked if Antony Ferguson had narrated Parker throughout the book no matter from whose side the chapter was written and Joel Leslie could narrate Lan and Easton. As it was, they read different chapters and the narration got very confusing and kept pulling me out of the story.
The story wasn't very good either. I felt Easton forgave Lan a little two quickly given how badly he had broken his heart. All it took was a Neanderthal act from Lan and acknowledgement in front of his friends, some of whom were gay and bisexual. The story twice went into extreme situations for the main characters to come together. At least one of the situations felt senseless and completely out of place. Then for at least the last 40-45% it dragged. Finally, I got bored and gave up.
