Summary
Pediatrician and best-selling author Meg Meeker has a message: stop undervaluing fatherhood.
We live in a culture that hails motherhood as a woman's crowning achievement yet defines men first and foremost by their professional accomplishments, treating fatherhood as almost incidental - a bonus. But from her years spent as a pediatrician listening to children's needs and fears, Dr. Meeker understands just how crucial a father's role is.
Hero is a powerful affirmation of fatherhood that shows men how being a strong, active father can be their greatest triumph.

Nice book
Any father (or father to be), and even mothers, will benifit from listening to this book.
The author believes that fatherhood is a God given roll, which I personally agree with. Be ready for spiritual, practical, and very useful input.

A man-up mixture
Astute observations and helpful pointers go askew with opinionated statements and lists of do's and don'ts. It encourages dad's to be present and steadfast, but goes too far in telling them where they should draw the line. It correctly notes the perception of dads has changed and the role of women has grown in society, but instead of encouraging team work and cooperation in the household, it wants to drag dad's back to the past with a 'man-up' attitude. It also belittles the role of mum's and wives suggesting that they're just waiting for dads to 'man up' and take back control. Overall... some good relationship advice but also some really archaic nonsense.
