Summary
Jason's back! And he's ready for some revenge!
Roughly a month has passed in-game since Thorn's attack on the Twilight Throne. In that time, the dark city has managed to recover and rebuild - growing the ranks of Original Sin at the same time.
Which is good, because that brief respite is over. The Avatar of Flame has risen within the depths of the northern desert and has thrown down a digital gauntlet to Jason - with a gate piece hanging in the balance. Even worse? His opponent is none other than Finn Harris, the "father of modern AI". The same man who may have been behind Thorn's attack on the Twilight Throne.
And in the wake of recent events - the committee hearing back in the real world and the attack on his people - Jason is no longer content to just react; to wallow in the safety of his kingdom. If he's to be painted the villain...well, then it's long past time he fully embraced that role.
Because now it's personal.
And there'll be no holding back....

well worth the wait!
Definitely one of the best books in the series, from the narrative to the tying in the threads from the side stories. I'm really looking forward to more

Fantastic fusion of Fin and Jason’s worlds
Loved this book! the new character conducting an assessment of one of the main characters was a joy to follow. Gave author a fun way to view the world and tackle subjects like forming relationships with residents in a world where travellers and residents are indistinguishable.

another amazing instalment
for a long series it doesn't suffer from story fatigue like a lot of litrpgs do.
there is a clear over arching narrative that is progressed be each book. the sub plots are also coming into focus as well.
there is spectacle creep each book going more grand then the last but that fits very well with how the popularity of the game is going in the book.
the start of the book thow me a bit but it payed off

Utterly amazing
WoW. What a book! I thoroughly enjoyed this book, I agree with other people that this is the best book so far! The story moves along well and Jason's mind works on overdrive with his utterly complex and layered plans. Congratulations to Travis Bagwell on the amazing story. I am happy that Finn is integrated in the main books now.
I am very excited for the next book because that ending!
Please write fast, I need to know what happens next! Also loved that last bit with Alex! Ha!
I really can't recommend the Awaken online books enough, DO read the Side Quest books and the Tarot Trilogy. Or you will not get the full picture of the bigger picture!

Jason is back.... finally
I was really disappointed by the 'Flame' offshoot, which felt like a dragged out cash grab full of impossible situations that only Finn's specific power coud just about tackle. Three books was too many to introduce another charachter and their back story, and the stories didn't seem to have much depth. I'd actually given up on the series after the second 'Flame' book and only picked up book 3 and Hellion as I had a backlog of unused credits about to expire, even then they were last on my listening list.
Well finally, 4 books later Jason and the twilight throne are back in full force for another epic battle or two, and I do mean epic with the main scenes taking hours to listen through and this being a 30 hour book. For me at least, the plot line was a little transparent with the exception of the seeming twist in the epilogue which hints strongly about an underlying plot beyond the gameworld itself.
There is a rapid increase in the capability of the main Avatars, which really wasn't defined as as such was just thrown in as 'they spend x time progressing skills and training' without any real context or reader involvement so is starting to fall into the usual issues of a mature series where the author just keeps pulling bigger rabbits out of the hat rather than developing the characters.
That said, I did enjoy Hellion as was motivated to see where the story would end. A fun installment.
Narration is at the usual good standard.

Gripping!
Story starts out predictable but highly enjoyable, then gives you the nail biting edge you need.
highly recommend you read the tarot trilogy prior to listening to this story

Another great series in the awakened online series.
Highly recommend reading the ember series prior to reading.
Another example of clever writing and a deep understanding of human nature
