Summary

"Do you believe Will took his own life?"

The question echoed off the white tiles in the hospital’s cold, cavernous morgue, and I studied my husband in peaceful repose. I leaned down and put my forehead against his. Silent tears ran down my cheeks. They felt hot, and he felt so cold. It was five days since his death, and my grief felt heavy, like a vast, dark mass pushing down on me.

When Maggie’s husband, Will, is shot dead in their London home, she thinks he is the victim of a burglary until the police tell her the shocking news that Will was the one who pulled the trigger.

Maggie is consumed with grief and questions. Will wasn’t suicidal. He had so much to live for.

After the funeral, Maggie travels to their holiday home on a small Croatian island to escape London. She finds a disturbing letter written by Will, containing clues to a dark secret.

As Maggie puts the pieces together, she discovers Will’s death is connected to someone from his past.... Someone who will go to extreme lengths to keep Maggie silent.

Three can keep a secret...if two of them are dead.

The international multimillion best-selling author of The Girl in the Ice is back with his first stand-alone thriller, a heart-racing, hold-your-breath listen that will keep you hooked until the very end.

Average

Read many books by this author, this wasn’t as enjoyable as the others. Really didn’t like the narrators voice for male voices!

Excellent story

Really enjoyed this story, couldn’t put it down. Very exciting and believable in this political climate. Characters came to life. The Narrator is brilliant her ability to change her voice was remarkable, she will be a favourite along with my others.

Dull

I’ve read all the other books so jumped at reading this one - it was dull! I’m not sure if it was the narrators voice or just the story line. Usually a gripping storyline but this time quite predictable. Never mind can’t get it right every time

Brilliant!

I have read everything Robert Bryndza has ever written so I knew this was gonna be a great book. I wasn’t wrong!! The book had me hooked from the very start.

I love how the story just kept me gripped and the suspense was unreal. It has so many twists and turns and I honestly had no idea where it was gonna take me next. The narration was really great too.

I’d highly recommend this book to everyone. It didn’t disappoint. Five stars for sure.

Got better half way

This was not as outstandingly good as Robert Bryndza's other books. I am aware that this was an attempt at a standalone book, it was not bad, but quite average I'd say.
First half of the book was not very interesting, and the narration was hard to follow as if the narrator was trying too hard, putting emphasis on each and every word, which was distructing me. All improved in the second part of story, the plot itself was quite good, and the narration more flowy, with the narrator being quite good at making different voices and accents. So yes I have mixed feelings about this book.
