very enjoyable.

The books are too short so I've binge listened to all of them in sequence. Jonathan Keeble is an excellent reader that combined with really good writing and very good characters makes this series well worth a listen.

Really Like this series but ...

I read the book first. Jonathan Keeble's narration is really good for Tom and the other male characters - but do not like him narrating women (male voice makes them sound a bit like pantomime dames!!.
I have read all of this series and enjoyed them all - but the women are becoming a bit irritating to read. All bossy and 1 dimensional for me!

A bit samey

Brilliantly narrated as always but nothing memorable in this one - has the series run out of oomph?

overall a good story

i have been binge listening to the whole series of these books and ive really enjoyed most of them however i do find there are inconsistancies between stories and sometimes feel the writer adds deatails just to fill out the book but they dont always fit the story . My one main annoyance is Calladine's mother was called Freida in earlier books then all of a sudden she became Jean. I prefered the earlier books to the most recent ones, there are so many ways to kill someone but the author seems to like reusing the chopped off tongue down the throat. there are also things in the police proceedure that would never happen in real life but these dont detract from the story. overall though i do like the series

Why changing Detective's mother's name

From book 1, mother who raised him was called Frida, in this one they are referring to her as Jean?!
