Summary

*The breathtaking new novel from the bestselling author of Girl A*

‘I couldn’t put this down’ Stacey Halls

What really happened on Day One?

Everyone has their own version of what happened to the school that day:

The survivor, who escaped but is now trapped in a lie.

The newspapers, hellbent on turning a tragedy into a spectacle.

And the outsider, who claims it never really happened at all…

They all want the truth.

But who’s ready to face it?

As events spiral out of control and conspiracies ignite, the true story is revealed. Piece by shocking piece.

Irritating

An averagely engaging story but the male narrator is so intensely irritating, I almost thought it was a joke.

A huge disappointment

I pre-ordered this book as soon as I could after loving Girl A. This is terrible- possibly due to the male narration which is just awful - but I just can't get past the poor narration to get into the story. If you want to try it, I'd suggest borrowing the book from the library rather than listening to it. Don't bother with the audio book - its just awful.

Male Narration is awful

I feel so sorry for the author as the male narration has totally ruined her book. I couldn’t listen it was so bad and ended up returning it!

Poor narrating

I found the book quite boring, which was disappointing as I enjoyed Girl A. The male narrator was terrible to the point I couldn’t listen any further so didn’t finish the book which I never do.

Male narrator is awful

I should have read the other reviews before buying this audiobook, I was really enjoying the book until the male narrator's first chapter - tone and delivery was exactly like listening to a local TV news reporter and he put on silly voices for the characters as if it was a book for young children. An odd performance choice for a dramatic text aimed at an adult audience. Unfortunately I found it completely unlistenable and had to return the title
