Summary
"All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others."
The animals of Manor Farm are in the midst of a revolution. Overworked and mistreated, they set themselves against Mr Jones and with flaming idealism and stirring slogans they set out to create a paradise of progress, justice and equality; only to find that revolution isn’t always so simple.
An allegory on totalitarian regimes, Animal Farm was banned in the Eastern bloc and is one of the great political works of the 20th century.

Short and terrifying.
Excellent story; well read. The story is excellent at promoting frustration and anguish in the reader; watching the hapless animals seal their doom and be told black is white has too many parallels today.

Leighton Pugh is Incredible
This was the first time I'd ever read or listened to 'Animal Farm', and it absolutely blew me away. Orwell manages to pack so much social and political intention into a seemingly obscure story of farm animals. It is clear why this is always hailed as a classic that everyone should read, especially in our politically divided times.
The performance is worth noting, too. I've listened to books narrated by Leighton Pugh in the past and he's always been excellent. He gives a truly great performance here, managing to portray all the characters individually and bringing to life the complex nature of Orwell's allegory.
It's the perfect pairing of a narrator on top form and a true classic that everyone should listen to.
