Great start to a cultivation novel
Very similar to a manga novel. Tao did a great job as the book is filled with fighting and cultivation. Author creates vivid images and makes you want to listen to more.
If you like fighting, cultivation and competition this is for you. Will be listening to the next book

A great intro to the genre
I fully recommend this book. The main character’s journey is littered with injustice, making it equal parts frustrating and satisfying as he works through the problems set before him.
I’m also fond of the setting; Ancient China has a different feeling to Feudal Japan and the English Chivalric era. The Chinese magic system has a lot to do with this, as it’s hierarchical nature allows it to be baked into the social structure.
Xuanxia, while great stories, tend to be difficult to access due jarring cultural differences and awkward translations.
This book was either written in English or has been masterfully translated. The cultural differences are less pronounced too.

Really easy and enjoyable listen.
The book was well paced. It was refreshing for the MC not have everything given to them. You really felt the MC deserved the fortunes that came his way!

Unexpectedly good! Don't skip!
I was a bit skeptical about it at first, but it was really enjoyable!
My only wish was for easier to follow names for the characters.
Great story and Mr. Baldree delivers excellence, as always.

Better than expected
Hopefully book2 will build on the
First book.
A change of story line would be welcome too.

good story, great performance, just short
I really liked it, my only complain that it is way too short. Basically a prologue and one arc. I will go ahead and listen the next one, which is the same length I think. l guess this novel is an endless story as it supposed to be similar to other Chinese cultivation novels. It just feels it cut into too small pieces which reduces it's value in my eyes. also saw there are 0.5 books between the main books and they are very short and cost the same as the main book, I mean that just seems like a rip off, considering that the main book is already feels like a small piece of the story. not sure exactly but its something like 40 hours listen for what 10 credits? Harry potter can't pull that off and that's saying something. That being said, I enjoyed the first book, good story and characters and the narrator is excellent. and I'm glad this genre found it's way to audible and I hope to see more of them here, but the pricing strategy needs
to be reconsidered.

enjoyable
I loved this novel. The story flows easily. The MC isn't overpowered. He is humble and his main quality is his perseverance.

Wasn’t sure at first but now I’m on book 8
This series took me a while to get into after reading the cradle series and wanting something to fill the hole. Picked it up and then actually didn’t listen to it for a month or two, eventually I did I can confidently say one of the best progression fantasies I’ve every had the pleasure of listening too. Book 9 releases in a couple days and I can’t wait. This competes with the cradle series in my mind
