Editor reviews

One of the most read fantasy series in the world, A Song of Ice and Fire, is here in Book 2, A Clash of Kings, written by legendary author George R. R. Martin and in an unabridged audiobook narrated by veteran British actor Roy Dotrice. This phenomenal series has been the inspiration behind the colossal HBO TV series Game of Thrones. The Seven Kingdoms lie in ruin. King Robert is dead and the boy-king rules as a tyrant. Talk of an immense war is seeping throughout the lands. Available now from Audible.

Summary

The complete, unabridged audiobook of A Clash of Kings.

HBO’s hit series A Game of Thrones is based on George R. R. Martin’s internationally best-selling series A Song of Ice and Fire, the greatest fantasy epic of the modern age. A Clash of Kings is the second volume in the series.

Throughout Westeros, the cold winds are rising.

From the ancient citadel of Dragonstone to the forbidding lands of Winterfell, chaos reigns as pretenders to the Iron Throne of the Seven Kingdoms stake their claims through tempest, turmoil and war.

As a prophecy of doom cuts across the sky - a comet the colour of blood and flame - five factions struggle for control of a divided land. Brother plots against brother and the dead rise to walk in the night.

Against a backdrop of incest, fratricide, alchemy and murder, the price of glory is measured in blood.

great book, TERRIBLE narrator

the narrator is absolutely awful - he changes the pronunciation of names within the span of a sentence. completely ruins the performance.

great book

I guess it's selfish but the characters don't have the right voices in my opinion, well read overall and fantastic story of course.

Good listen

I have never seen the TV series so I had no preconceived ideas about how the characters should sound.
I really enjoyed this book. It’s very easy to get lost in this series.

- Mispronounced names (Brienne/ Petyr etc)
- Davos/Tyrion started off sounding creepy?
- Inconsistent Accents

Great book, but not well narrated.

I loved the book, but the narration spoilt a lot for me. Why does most of the characters sound like farmers??? No one sounds like they actually should do.

A fairly predictable story read very well.

The story has become a bit cunfused and the new characters are one-dimensional irritating lack of any closure in this volume.

Great reading, poor narration

The writing in this book is great and the story (even through reading after the series) is excellent and keeps me hooked.

Although the narration is very distracting in places, for example wheeze’s voice is so hard to understand that I got the book out for Arya’s chapters.

Pretty good. Not so sure about the accents given the various characters but otherwise ok.

Epic story!

loved the story, it is one of the most intricate stories. The narrator dose an incredible job to help you distinguish between the characters.
