  • Summary

  • Liz Parrish wants to cure ageing.

She believes that ageing is a disease. She says regulation is stopping researchers from saving lives. But Liz won’t be stopped.

In 2015, her company flew a patient to Colombia for the first treatment of its kind in humans: gene therapy to reverse biological ageing.

    Remarkably, they claim it worked.

If that’s correct, then why are we still dying of old age?

Journalist Frank Swain embarks on the hunt for the true story behind this controversial human experiment.

excellent investigative journalism

Well researched en excellent narrator. I found this very well worth listening to. Doesn't this Liz, well-intended as she may be, make you think of Elizabeth Holmes? Journalists are our heroes.

Absolutely gripping, absolutely loved it

Really wasn't sure what I was in for but was taken on a twisty journey of science sleuthing and incredibly well done story telling. One of the best podcasts I've listened to in years.

Well researched and good narrator

Even though the journalist stays fairly neutral I feel this is another Theranos. Maybe she started out with good intentions but it’s very sketchy now. Wished somebody would follow up this podcast with a financial deepdive

Thrilling investigation, compelling told

I listened to this all in one day! The investigation was well told with some revelatory interviews. It also makes the scientific elements accessible and easy to follow.

Compelling asking of the big questions

Excellent podcast, finished in one sitting. It's not a subject I knew much about, but all relevant science was explained for a complete layman. The series asked some big ethical questions, explored them well and left the listener to come to their own conclusions. intelligent, thought provoking programming.

Very interesting

I really enjoyed listening to this podcast. it's a fascinating story, with interesting ideas and people. I will look out for more by the podcast creator, and for more info on the longevity community and future scientific research into aging. It was all very eye opening!
