About this listen
A number-one best seller in several categories with over 14,000 five-star ratings on Goodreads.
From the number-one New York Times best-selling and award-winning author Colleen Hoover comes "A stand-alone romantic thriller that is tragic, creepy, and brilliant!" (Mel Reader Reviews)
Lowen Ashleigh is a struggling writer on the brink of financial ruin when she accepts the job offer of a lifetime. Jeremy Crawford, husband of best-selling author Verity Crawford, has hired Lowen to complete the remaining books in a successful series his injured wife is unable to finish.
Lowen arrives at the Crawford home, ready to sort through years of Verity's notes and outlines, hoping to find enough material to get her started. What Lowen doesn't expect to uncover in the chaotic office is an unfinished autobiography Verity never intended for anyone to read. Page after page of bone-chilling admissions, including Verity's recollection of the night their family was forever altered.
Lowen decides to keep the manuscript hidden from Jeremy, knowing its contents would devastate the already grieving father. But as Lowen's feelings for Jeremy begin to intensify, she recognizes all the ways she could benefit if he were to read his wife's words. After all, no matter how devoted Jeremy is to his injured wife, a truth this horrifying would make it impossible for him to continue to love her.
Sexy. Twisted. Consuming.
Due to graphic scenes and mature content, this book is recommended for listeners 18+.

wow, what a book, colleen has you hooked from the first few sentences, the characters, the tragedy, the twists & turns that make you think you know how its going to end, until the very last page.beware this book is cruel and nothing is what it seems.
you'll cry, laugh and then question how.
but read it,it's a truly good listen/read.

Such a good page turner, creepy, messed up and sexy all in one :) definitely recommended, it’s like two parallel stories in one

Verity!!
I never hated reading a book so much while reading it and yet again so stricken and at the same time calm and pleased by the ending. I’m pleased I finished it,so many times I wanted to leave and not to come back to it ever again. I guess the way to describe it is artistic and intelligent. Wow!

A Twisty Tale
A clever story, I thought I figured it out early, but unsurprisingly I was wrong. The characters are well woven if not always believable.
I did really like the narrative structure of having a book within a book and it was well executed.

Rushed ending
I enjoyed the book all the way until the last hour or so, the ending was rushed and boring, so disappointed.

mixed feelings
First off: this is basically p*rn disguised as fiction. The story was good but the ending let it down, it was both too rushed and too strung out, and should have ended a chapter earlier. but what really ruined it for me was the TERRIBLE narration. Verity sounded like Siri with zero intonation and Lowen was quite nasal (think Karen from Will and Grace). All in all i enjoyed it but was glad it was free
