Summary

DI Zoe Finch has a lot on her plate.

New job, new team, new county. And on day one, she’s plunged straight into a murder investigation.

Zoe has to hit the ground running. She needs to manage a new team with its fair share of challenges, get to grips with a new boss who might not be all she seems, and worry about her reputation following her north to Cumbria.

Can she settle in quickly enough to solve the murder and quell local tensions, as well as coping with an unfamiliar environment?

The Harbor is book 1 in an exciting new series for the star of the bestselling DI Zoe Finch series.

Loves these books

But I hate the narrative… sorry the lady reading is awful .. has no perception of the voices that police officers and criminals would talk .. if the story was not good I’d have given up !!!

Confusing

Very confusing story. Kept rewinding thinking I missed something. The characters sounded the same as the Dorset murders characters. One minute I was listening to Zoe then she sounded like it was Lesley.

Sadly not impressed

Wasn't able to finish it. Being from the area it is supposed to be based I was very disappointed. Narrator distinguished the characters poorly or should have just read it flat. The local character and dialogue/dialect neglected in the story and the narration.
I listen & read a lot of similar types of fiction and usually start and finish the whole series so I know what to expect including some of Rachel's other novels but, for me this collaboration doesn't work.

Great continuation of the Zoe Finch story

Despite being an excellent continuation of the Zoe Finch series, with all the twists and turns of her work, I found it quite difficult to persevere with as the narration was extremely difficult to listen too. In particular, I felt that the Chapter statements ( of which there are over 100 ) and the voice of DC Nina Kappor were totally nerve jangling.

Varied new characters

A fan of DI Zoe Finch and new series is good but found one of the new character hard to like that could not enjoy it as much as I had hoped. Just a personal issue with self as I am looking forward to future books in this series

Very predictable

No mystery at all - I knew from the start how this would end. Far too predictable. I stuck with it because I’d paid for it but didn’t really enjoy it. Far too many characters to keep up with.
