Summary
The inspirational memoir from the star of OUR WELSH CHAPEL DREAM and THE GREAT POTTERY THROWDOWN
'During downtime on the pottery throwdown Keith made my hair curl with some of his tales - he's a great raconteur and recounts his story in this book as he does in real life - with joy, charm & mischief.' - Sara Cox
Ballet dancer. Front man in an almost famous band. Judge on The Great Pottery Throw Down. How did all that happen?
'By accident mostly. But I always say we make our own luck. What if an art teacher hadn't given me a lump of clay? What if my band had properly taken off? What if I hadn't taken a photograph of a bowl to the buyer at Heals in London? What if she'd hated it? Or hadn't seen it...
Every chapter of my book is based around an object (usually a pot) that's been significant in my life. It's just a trigger to let me go off in a lot of different directions and tell a few stories. A lot of stories. Dyslexia. The art teacher who changed my life. My Mother. My Father. A life-changing job interview with a man who lay under his car throughout. *That* video. (If you don't know what I'm talking about, a quick search of 'Keith Brymer Jones Adele' should do it.)'
The end product? A warming, clever memoir of Keith's pottery life with some very loud music, some pretty good dancing, and a lot of throwing, fettling and firing. Oh ... and a good dose of anxiety.

Keith is just great
His voice and the story are a lovely gentle listen. I particularly liked the chapters about the show, and his reflective social commentary throughout the book.

what a delightful surprise!
I loved it- I wasn’t sure what to make of KBJ but this books is really wonderful. It helps if you like pottery too but is a fantastic example of a maker and all the processes and evolutions you go through. I keep recommending it to friends. Bravo KBJ! 👏👏

Warm and fuzzy..
I loved it! I felt Keith was chatting with me personally about his love & passion for pottery, and about his life.. Sharing his toils and gratitudes.
Wholy recommend this as an audible version - he delivers it all so well. I await the sequel Keith! 😉

A wonderful colourful Man
This was my first audio book & I absolutely loved it. No I'd never heard of KBJ before the pottery throwout on tv. Keith seemed a lovely man & yes it was a breath of fresh air to see an emotional man. I laughed and cried with him as he narrated his memoirs. I am so glad I decided on the audio version. Hearing him tell his story of trials, tribulations, joy & sadness where apt. It was just wonderful

Bloody brilliant!
This is a great book, I was gripped very early on, and I couldn’t stop listening until it was finished. Keith is brilliant reading it as well, quite often the reader even if it’s the author feels disconnected from the words even though they wrote them. Not Keith, his emotions come along with the heartfelt words and I cried a few times. So wonderfully spoken. Thank you Keith xx
Unfortunately now I feel like I know you, but you don’t know me, how sad that is. I wish I did know you, because you’d help with my pottery!
I’d totally recommend you listening to this book, you won’t be disappointed, I laughed out loud quite a few times. Love your journey. X
Michelle
